Objectives<\/h3>\n
The GIPeQID group conducts applied clinical research focused on skin care, the prevention and treatment of skin lesions, the management of ostomies and vascular access devices, and continuity of care in neonates, pediatrics, and adults. These activities include observational studies, multicenter projects, prevalence studies, and clinical practice evaluations, as well as the development and evaluation of evidence-based protocols, clinical algorithms, and educational materials. The group also provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing education training for healthcare professionals, incorporating innovative teaching methodologies, clinical simulation, and applied research. In addition, the group promotes educational and outreach activities for the general public, parents, caregivers, and patients, aimed at improving knowledge, self-care, injury prevention, and active participation in the care process. <\/p>\n
Lines of research<\/h3>\n\n- Skin care and developmental care in newborns, including assessment of skin integrity, prevention of injury, treatment and integration of skin care with developmental and family-centered care.<\/li>\n
- Prevention of skin injuries in newborns, pediatrics and adults, including wounds, pressure injuries, moisture-associated injuries, friction and shear injuries, medical device-related injuries and fragile skin, addressing the detection of failures and errors, good practices and the knowledge, attitudes and practices of nursing staff.<\/li>\n
- Ostomies in newborns, pediatrics and adults, focused on comprehensive management, prevention and treatment of peristomal lesions, as well as the development, implementation and evaluation of care protocols and educational materials aimed at professionals, patients and families.<\/li>\n
- Good practices and evidence-based practice in vascular access in neonates, pediatrics and adults, addressing device selection, insertion, maintenance, prevention of complications and implementation of recommendations based on scientific evidence.<\/li>\n
- Integration of care and continuity of care between Primary Care Nursing and Hospital Care Nursing, with special focus on the coordination of care plans, the monitoring of skin lesions and ostomies and the advancement of care pathways.<\/li>\n
- Empowerment of parents, patients and caregivers, aimed at:\n
\n- promoting active participation in skin care and injury prevention,<\/li>\n
- improving knowledge, autonomy and shared decision-making,<\/li>\n
- developing and evaluating educational materials adapted to the different stages of life and care contexts,<\/li>\n
- promoting co-responsibility in care and continuity of care at home.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
- Training, updating of knowledge and applied research, oriented to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education, to active participation in congresses and scientific conferences, to the dissemination of knowledge and to the design and participation in future research projects, competitive and non-competitive, incorporating innovative teaching methodologies and clinical simulation.<\/li>\n
- Humanization of care in adults, pediatrics and Primary Care, aimed at:\n
\n- promoting person- and family-centered care,<\/li>\n
- integrating humanization into skin care, injury prevention, and the management of chronic conditions,<\/li>\n
- improving the experience of patients and families throughout the care process,<\/li>\n
- developing and evaluating interventions, protocols and good practices that strengthen communication, active participation and continuity of care, especially in the field of Primary Care.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
