Jenifer García Fernández

Dr. Jenifer García-Fernández holds a PhD in Chemistry applied to nanomedicine from Humboldt Universität zu Berlin. In 2020, she was awarded a Sara Borrell fellowship from the Carlos III Health Institute and joined the Nano-Oncology and Translational Therapeutics group at IDIS, where she has worked ever since. Her research focuses on the development of nanotechnology-based strategies for the early detection and treatment of cancer and other degenerative diseases, with an emphasis on personalized medicine.

Her scientific contributions span analytical chemistry and nanomedicine, including the characterization of nanoparticles for biomedical applications and the preclinical evaluation of functionalized nanoemulsions in oncology. She has published in high-impact journals (Journal of Controlled Release, International Journal of Molecular Sciences, Pharmaceutics, Nanoscale), accumulating over 200 citations, and has presented her work at leading national and international conferences.

Dr. García-Fernández has led and co-led competitive projects funded by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII), the Spanish State Research Agency (AEI), GAIN, and ERA-NET, and has fostered collaborations with research centers in Spain, Portugal, France, and Germany, among others. She is actively involved in knowledge transfer activities, with experience in translational medicine and technological commercialization initiatives. Her leadership and commitment to training new researchers have consolidated her role as co-leader of the Nano-Oncology group since 2025.
