Network Biomedical Research Center for cardiovascular diseases (CIBERCV)

The CIBERCV purpose is to contribute to reducing the impact of cardiovascular diseases in our environment and to generate prosperity, by leading research, innovation and training in this discipline in the national and international setting.

The Centro de Investigación en Red de Enfermedades Cardiovasculares (CIBERCV) pools the work done by over 480 scientists from 40 excellence research groups spread almost all over Spain, with major presence in the National Health System, as well as in our main Healthcare Research Institutes, Universities and Research Centres.

CIBERobn’s mission is to promote the understanding of mechanisms contributing to the development of obesity in order to reduce its occurrence and prevalence as well as its complications, in addition to nutrition-related diseases. Through leadership in translational biomedical research, CIBERobn integrates basic, clinical, epidemiological and public health research, provides medical care and promotes public awareness about obesity and nutrition, to become a reference research centre that has the competitive potential of being internationalised and to provide R&D&I consulting services to pharmaceutical companies, food companies and the nation’s health authorities.

CIBERobn is a networking cooperative structure consisting of 31 groups ocated in someof the most important research centres in Spain.

CIBERESP, Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red de Epidemiología y Salud Pública (CIBER of Epidemiology and Public Health), is a center of excellence in epidemiological investigation, in which professionals from the academic field, public administrations and research centers collaborate to provide updated information on the health situation in our context, the major biological, environmental and social determinants involved in the most frequent diseases and the study of inequalities. CIBERESP mission is to generate relevant knowledge for decision making, with preventive views, both disease and its consequences.

Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red de Cáncer (CIBERONC)

The main aim of the Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red de Cáncer, (CIBERONC) is to promote excellence in oncology research in Spain, as well as to incorporate new findings to clinical practice.

CIBERONC has 50 research groups located in the main centres all over Spain. These groups have adopted a structure of 6 scientific programmes, 5 focussing on the major challenges in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the most prevalent neoplastic typologies.

Spanish Biobank Network

Spanish Biobank Network (RNBB) is an initiative of the Carlos III Institute of Health that provides added value to the Spanish biobank group, with the aim of providing high scientific, technical and technological support to R&D&I projects in science and health technologies, as well as fostering innovation in health technologies, by providing human biological samples and associated data of excellent quality.

The RNBB is formed by 39 institutions from all over Spain, including IDIS.

Spanish Clinical Research Network (SCReN)

SCReN (Spanish Clinical Research Network) is a network structure that supports independent/academic clinical research, particularly multicentric trials.

Currently, it is formed by 34 research units (UICs) along 14 spanish regions, responsibles of providing support to hospital centers through the Spanish Healthcare System (SNS). The platform provides scientific-technical support, having broad experience in national and international Project management.

The Innovation Platform in Medical and Healthcare Technologies (ITEMAS) is a support structure for healthcare innovation promoted by the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII), whose objective is to facilitate the innovative ideas of healthcare professionals to generate value for the system, through favoring the transfer of technology, the culture of innovation and communication with the rest of society.

ITEMAS ‘main tool is the creation of Innovation Support Units (UAI) in hospitals and biomedical research institutes, including IDIS.

European infrastructure for translational medicine (EATRIS)

EATRIS is the European infrastructure for translational medicine. We bring together resources and services for research communities to translate scientific discoveries into benefits for patients. EATRIS is what is known as an ‘ERIC’, which is a non-profit European Research Infrastructure Consortium.

Eatris provide access to a vast array of pre-clinical and clinical expertise and facilities that are available within 115+ top-tier academic centres across Europe. Eatris is focused on improving and optimising preclinical and early clinical development of drugs, vaccines and diagnostics. Solutions are developed in the fields of advanced therapy medicinal products, imaging and tracing, small molecules, vaccines and biomarkers.

Their research infrastructure offers a broad range of research services for both academia and industry across various research fields.

COST Actions

A COST Action is an interdisciplinary research network that brings researchers and innovators together to investigate a topic of their choice for 4 years. COST Actions are typically made up of researchers from academia, SMEs, public institutions and other relevant organisations or interested parties.

COST Actions help to advance knowledge and strengthen the research and development sector, by creating networking opportunities for researchers to meet and discuss ideas, complex problems can be addressed in a targeted way, across a large geographical area.

Network of Managing Entities of Hospital Clinical and Biosanitary Research (REGIC)

REGIC is the first association of clinical research management organization created in Spain at the request of professionals, in order to share experiences and create a space for interaction and training in the R&D&i management in healthcare.

As a whole, REGIC represents a large part of the clinical research in Spain and has representatives from all over the country.
