Laboratory Management

The Laboratory Management Department plays a fundamental role by providing constant logistical support in the laboratory environment, ensuring effective operation and efficient workflow to meet the necessary quality standards in scientific research. Its main functions are:

  • Management of research resources:
    • Administer the acquisition and renewal of laboratory equipment, including inventory and installation of common-use equipment.
    • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of the equipment.
    • Coordinate the reservations of common equipment available at the IDIS facilities.
    • Supply research staff with the necessary consumables and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to carry out their work.
  • Incident management: provide effective responses to unforeseen situations or operational problems that may affect the normal workflow in the laboratories.
  • Manage and coordinate works or modifications in the facilities.
  • Safety and good practices in the laboratory:
    • Ensure the efficient, safe, and responsible handling of equipment, reagents, and samples to prevent both waste and exposure of workers, society, and the environment to any type of risk.
    • Manage the proper disposal of obsolete equipment and waste generated during research activities.
