Professor of Human Anatomy and Embryology in the Department of Morphological Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). Deputy Director of the Center for Research in Molecular Medicine and Chronic Diseases (CIMUS) at USC, part of the CIGUS Network and recognized as a María de Maeztu Center of Excellence.
He holds a Bachelor’s and Doctoral degree in Medicine from USC. He completed his training in Clinical Neurology at the University Hospital of A Coruña. He undertook postdoctoral training in Neurodegenerative Diseases at Lund University (Sweden).
He received the Bachelor’s Degree Award from the Royal National Academy of Medicine. He has served as: a member of the Interdepartmental Commission for Science and Technology of Galicia; a member of the Commission for Research and Technological Development of Galicia; Coordinator of Research Infrastructures at USC; Deputy Director of the Postgraduate Center at USC; a member of the Governing Council of IDIS; and a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Society for Cell Therapy. Member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Society of Gene and Cell Therapy; member of various Research Evaluation Committees; associate editor of several Neuroscience journals.
