Ethics, Integrity, Gender and Open Science

The Galician Public Foundation IDIS has a Quality and Good Research Practice Manual, which is mandatory for all IDIS staff and those of the foundation, and which sets out the legal obligations and ethical principles governing research activities, including relations between members of research teams, scientific output and the protection of intellectual property. The manual also sets out responsibilities regarding data protection — with particular attention to individuals’ clinical data — and the procedures to be followed in cases of conflict of interest or the detection of professional misconduct.

Furthermore, FIDIS has an Equality Plan designed not only to ensure fair working conditions for all team members, to put in place specific measures to support work-life balance, and to prevent and respond to cases of harassment, but also to apply a gender perspective to all areas, policies and decisions within the organisation.

IDIS has an Open Science Policy that promotes the publication of the results of all its research in accordance with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) in recognised open data repositories, such as the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). In addition, IDIS offers financial support to its research staff for the publication of open-access articles.

IDIS promotes interaction between science and society and, to this end, includes numerous outreach and public engagement activities in its annual Communication Plan.
