E038 – Musculoskeletal Pathology

Objectives and lines of research

Objectives

The objective of the different lines of research of the Musculoskeletal Pathology Group are the diseases that most prevalently affect the locomotor system. These pathologies include osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, heterotopic ossification, ankylosing spondylitis, gout, etc.
We do patient-oriented research.

Lines of research

The lines of the laboratory can be grouped into 5 large areas of knowledge:

  • New pharmacological approaches for osteoarthritis and other rheumatic inflammatory diseases.
  • Study and pharmacological modulation of bone metabolism.
  • Search for protein and cellular biomarkers for the characterization and diagnosis of heterotopic ossification.
  • Pharmacological doping of implants for the surgical approach of pathologies such as osteoarthritis.
  • Study of environmental, iatrogenic or metabolic factors harmful to the musculoskeletal system.
