Magnetic resonance imaging

• High field preclinical Magnetic Resonance Unit (9.4 T); Bruker BIOSSPEC 94/20 (440 mT/m gradient system); ParaVision®6 Software;
• Available coils:
  -Surface coils for rat and mouse brain imaging;
  -Volume coils for rat, mouse and small animals;
  -Surface coil for rat/mouse heart imaging;
  -Surface coil for 1H spectroscopy;
• Accessories
  -Electrical stimulator for fMRI;
  -Inhalation anesthetic system, breathing and temperature monitoring of animals (SA Instruments, Inc., USA).

With the high-field preclinical Magnetic Resonance Unit (9.4 T) for in vivo / in vitro studies in small animals (rat/mouse), anatomical and cardiac images can be acquired, to be used in studies of different pathologies. In vivo studies can be performed using contrast probes (specifically designed nanoparticles) to achieve immuno-specific contrast.

The applications of the Magnetic Resonance Unit go through:

• Anatomical studies: tumors, inflammations, degenerative diseases, neurovascular diseases.
• Functional studies: cerebral perfusion, vascular permeability, in vivo metabolic profile, etc.
• Pharmacokinetics and biodistribution of new contrast agents
• In vivo localization and monitoring of drug delivery and cell therapies
• Rat/mouse heart imaging (CINE acquisition sequence)
