Mario Pérez-Sayáns García

Dr. Mario Pérez-Sayáns García is a Full Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), accredited as a Professor by ANECA, and holds a PhD in Dentistry (USC, 2010, Cum Laude) and an International Doctor of Clinical Medicine (USC, 2021, Cum Laude).
He is currently Principal Investigator of the Oral and Maxillofacial Medical-Surgical Pathology group (ORALRES, E051), part of the Oncology Department of the Santiago de Compostela Health Research Institute (IDIS), where he leads research lines focused on oral pathology, oncology, biomaterials, and translational medicine.
He also serves as Academic Secretary of the Department of Surgery and Medical-Surgical Specialties (DCYEMQ) and has been the coordinator of the Department’s Stomatology Department. He is a Professor of the Master’s Program in Oral Medicine, Oral Surgery, and Implantology at USC and Director of the postgraduate program “University Expert in Oral Implantology,” as well as a Visiting Professor at the University of São Paulo (Brazil).
He has served as Director of the Galimplant Institutional Chair of Advanced Implantology, Editor of the journal Medicina (indexed in JCR), and International Evaluator of Higher Education Centers. He is also a technical expert in the certification of research projects for ACIE, an entity dependent on ENAC.
His scientific career includes 190 JCR-indexed publications (H index = 36), 14 full-length books, 15 book chapters, and numerous papers and lectures at national and international conferences. He has participated in 12 clinical trials and competitive projects and has been part of the MedOralRes group at the USC since 2009.
He has received multiple awards, including the First National End-of-Course Award, the Outstanding Bachelor’s Degree Award, the Outstanding Galician Award, and the Outstanding Doctorate Award.
Dr. Pérez-Sayáns is a I3 Researcher of the National Health System and the Ibero-American Board of Oral Pathology and Medicine, and is a leader in the integration of basic and clinical research in the field of oral medicine and pathology.
