E029 – Cognitive Neuroscience

Objectives and lines of research

Objectives

The group was interested in the neural bases of both cognitive and affective processes in normal populations of different ages and in clinical populations (impaired cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease, alcoholism, fibromyalgia) and risk (abusive alcohol consumption in youth), with the ultimate intention of Transfer knowledge to the health and social sphere.
For this, he uses behavioral, cognitive, neuropsychological, psychophysiological (EEG, evoked potentials,…), structural (NMR) and functional (fMRI) neuroimaging techniques; as well as non-invasive transcranial neuromodulation techniques (EMT, EET).

Lines of research

1) Cognitive and neurocognitive correlates of the healthy aging process and those with mild cognitive impairment and dementia (particularly Alzheimer’s disease);
2) Neurocognitive consequences of intensive alcohol consumption (binge drinking) in young people.
3) Neuropsychological, psychophysiological and neuroimaging evaluation, patients with fibromyalgia;
